Hi, I’m Christina - the hands behind Kneaded by Christina.
What started as a love for sourdough and baking for my family quickly grew into a small-batch cottage bakery serving fresh loaves, Moses Muffins, Christinabons, and seasonal bakes each week for our community in Elgin, Illinois.
Everything is naturally leavened, shaped by my two hands, and baked fresh in small batches from my home cottage bakery - or more accurately, my dining room that slowly turned into a bakery.
In the beginning, I was simply baking bread for my family - it became my therapy. And I kept baking until our freezer was full… and then my family’s freezer was full too. One day I decided to post a few loaves on my personal Facebook page, and literally overnight my phone filled with text messages and DMs from people asking if they could order bread. That small post quickly turned into something much bigger. What began as a few loaves for friends and family has grown into baking over 100 loaves a week, with menu drops and classes that often sell out.
That’s how Kneaded by Christina was born.
Baking each week truly brings me joy. When I’m mixing dough or shaping loaves, I often think about my Italian grandmother. When I was little, she would give me flour and water to play with in the kitchen just to keep me busy. I didn’t realize it then, but those moments planted the seed for the love of baking that I carry with me today.
Outside of the bakery, I’m also an HR executive by day, a mom to two very active kids, a coach, and the biggest (and maybe loudest?) cheerleader for whatever sport or activity my kids are pursuing. I’ve also spent my entire adult career working in the CPG/food industry, which makes building something around real, simple ingredients even more meaningful to me. Life is busy, but baking has become my creative outlet and the way I share a little love with my community.
I believe food is love, and every loaf that leaves my kitchen carries that with it.
Thanks for being here - I’m so glad you found my kitchen.
